The human language faculty has an endowment for multilingualism. Assuming that this can be confirmed, the view of child bilingualism as a potential source of possible disturbances must be abandoned. Instead, monolingualism can be regarded as resulting from an impoverished environment where an opportunity to exhaust the potential of the language faculty is not fully developed.

Ziel des Projektes DYLAN ist es die Bedingungen zu identifizieren, unter denen die Sprachenvielfalt Europas einen Vorteil für die Entwicklung von Wissen und Ökonomie darstellt.
DYLAN ist ein integriertes Projekt ( Vertrag N° 028702) mit einer Laufzeit von fünf Jahren, das innerhalb des sechsten Rahmenprogramms der Europäischen Union gefördert wird. Das Projekt vereint 20 Forschungseinrichtungen aus 12 europäischen Ländern.
